How to Know When Your Shoes are Dead
How Long Should They Last?
As a general rule most running shoes will provide cushioning up to 500 miles, though many runners report a breakdown
in cushioning after as few as 350 miles. Shoes with compression molded EVA midsoles can vary in durometer or density
from the moment they come off the factory line. This means that the relative cushioning properties and life span of
each midsole can vary from shoe to shoe. Most shoes with polyurethane midsoles will break down at a slower rate
keeping their "feel" for a longer period of time.
Try the Press Test.
When an EVA midsole is compressed, it creates visible lines or wrinkles in the midsole material that can be viewed
from the sidewall of the shoe. As the midsole is further compressed, the number of compression lines increases and
they grow closer together. When these lines first appear it means that the midsole is compressing normally...

Meet Matt, Certified Fit Specialist
Matt joined the TEDS team in 2007. A New England Champion in the Javelin, and Captain of his High School football team, Matt has been involved in
sports all his life. He has spent hours training his body to accell at a high level. He appreciates how important the proper fit is when it comes
to being an athlete. Matt has completed extensive training with New Balance on foot and ankle anatomy, shoe design, and human biomechanics to
better understand how the foot reacts with the ground. He has toured the New Balance Factory and has been involved with helping the Walking
Design Team at New Balance develop a new walking shoe! This has given him a ProCare Fit Specialist status that fewer than 10 people in the
state of NH have achieved!
Matt has also been successful in achieving his Theraputic Shoe Fitter Certification by Aetrex Worldwide. This achievement allows Matt to understand
medical situations that may arise in the foot and ankle. "Having your shoes fit correctly for all active sports is really important. It can
prevent injuries, and provide you with a great comfortable playing experience, and help your game come to the next level! I like working with
the first time customers here at TEDS because I like to share with them what sets us apart from the other shoe stores in the area. I can take
