The Colorado Rapids opened their home campaign with a bang, defeating the Portland Timbers 2-0 on a cold and snowy Saturday afternoon.
March 22nd was a day of firsts, it was the team's first win of the season, and Pablo Mastroeni's first win as a Head Coach. Rookie Goalkeeper John Berner stepped into goal once again and recorded his first career shutout in MLS.
The largest test of 2014 thus far looms with the defending MLS Cup Champions rolling into Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Saturday, March 29. The Rapids have posted an all-time home record of 14-4-8 against Kansas City, and will look to ride their unbeaten streak deeper into the season.
Kansas City have got off to a slow start in 2014, opening their title defense with a loss against the Seattle Sounders but have since drawn with FC Dallas and beat the San Jose Earthquakes.
Saturday's match will kick off at 4pm MT, and gates will open at 3pm. See you there!
